Wheat Variety Testing

Our electrophoresis method uses protein profile analysis to compare similarities between your wheat sample and known varieties. With a 10-day turnaround time from receipt of sample and all required standards, we can help you identify your wheat sample for informed cropping decisions and higher profit yields from your crop or seed lot. The cost of this analysis is $521.78 (inc. GST) per sample and the required sample size is 250g or as representative of the lot as possible.

AgEtal currently offers testing against the wheat varieties below. Although our method can compare your sample against a single known variety, if there is any uncertainty about the variety being analysed, it is more informative to compare the known against up to three suspected wheat varieties. These varieties should be indicated on your RFA and will be run alongside your sample if held in our collection. If you do not see your suspected variety on this list, please enquire with our lab staff and they can endeavour to source it.
Please note that some varieties of wheat can be highly similar in their protein profiles and may be difficult to distinguish with this method. Our pathology lab staff will always report the MOST similar variety to your sample but this is not a definitive identification.
